Find the cause before replacing the opener
A garage door that will not open does not always need a new motor. The issue may involve the controls, the opener or the door itself. An assessment helps identify the problem and the available repair options.
Let us know whether the wall button works, whether you hear the motor and whether the problem happens every time. If you already know the opener brand or model, include it in your request. You do not need to diagnose the fault yourself.
Remote, keypad or wall button problems
Does one control work while another does not? Tell us which remote, keypad or wall button is affected so we can better understand the problem.
Door stops or reverses
If the door stops partway or reverses when closing, describe when it happens. We can assess the opener, safety sensors and the way the door moves.
Opener runs without moving the door
If you hear the motor but the door stays in place, request an assessment of the opener and its connection to the door. The sound alone does not identify which part needs attention.
